Integrated Information Theory

Integrated information theory (IIT) of consciousness is a theory of consciousness recently formulated and proposed by Giulio Tononi. This theory proposes that consciousness (like yours, mine, or Laika‘s) is a function of the amount of information that is integrated within any complex system – IIT theorists like Tononi represent this amount of consciousness with the Greek letter Φ (Phi).
